The Coalition for More Home is a diverse group of housing stakeholders coming together to launch a campaign on housing in Auckland. It will be coming together to call on the Auckland Council to pass the Unitary Plan at a launch event of the Coalition on Monday the 1st of August.
At the launch speakers from youth group Generation Zero, community housing providers such as CORT, architects and developers will be speaking on the role of the Unitary Plan and why Auckland Council should vote to pass the plan.
The Unitary plan, released on Wednesday 27th of July, is the plan for the next 30 years of Auckland housing. The plan is the work of the Auckland Unitary Plan Independent Hearings Panel chaired by Judge David Kirkpatrick. It is the result of three years of public consultation, including thousands of public submission’s and testimony from hundreds of independent experts.
The Coalition believes that the passing of the Unitary Plan is a necessary first step toward solving the housing crisis, fueled by a lack of housing supply, that is keeping a generation of Aucklanders off the housing ladder and leaving families without homes.
